80. Diet clubs destroy your confidence

When you first start a diet, what are your goals? Weight loss mainly? To be thinner? To wear smaller clothes sizes? To become healthier? To try to fit in better? Whatever the goals were, I believe that ultimately what you are looking for is to be more confident.
However, when you look a little more closely you see that everything you do at a diet club slowly chips away at your confidence, rather than building you up.
I’m talking about the ways that they do that in this week’s episode. I’m looking at:
- Unrealistic weight loss goals
- External validation
- Comparison and competition
- Labelling foods as good or bad
- Reinforcing negative body image
- Failures
- Long term success
- Mental and emotional health
- How intuitive eating is a much better option
