If we believe in something, it’s likely because there is an element of that belief which benefits us. But when GOD first lay this term of Beyond Belief on my heart I wondered what could possibly be beyond having belief?

Let me give some insight: The answer is within reach for each one of us!

Belief is powerful when placed in God's truth found in Scripture. Belief, or trust, helps us grow close to Him and this is something worth exploring, which I've done in this episode on Beyond Belief. So what does the term 'believe' really mean? Is it just to believe things blindly without any evidence or proof? Obviously not; we're all looking for truth these days so let me see if I can help. First, of course, believing means trusting another. Learning to trust God takes time, but once established its hard-earned bonds are strong and unbreakable - like a 3 strand rope with a Gordian knot.

Title: Heart and Mind of Jesus – Lesson 5

Beyond Belief

Date: 5/10/2021

Contact: info@hopesharbor.net

· Key verse(s): Mat 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

· Possible: Dunatos doo-nat-os' From G1410; powerful or capable (literally or figuratively); neuter possible: - able, could, (that is) mighty (man), possible, power, strong.

· Intro: Last week we saw how unbelief costs the people of Jesus’ hometown: He did not do many mighty works there. (Mark 6:5 - And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folks, and healed them.)

· This week I want to look at the blessings and benefits of belief, and then look at what is beyond having belief. When GOD first lay this term on my heart I wondered what could possibly be beyond belief.

· Not “That’s beyond belief,” said in exasperation, but what lies beyond as a goal to reach, a benefit to obtain.

Let me give you a heads up: it’s within reach for each one of us.

Devotion focus: Obtaining a conviction

· By conviction, I mean a deep-seated persuasion, a deeply held principle, solid faith.

Listen to what Pastor Rick Warren wrote about convictions:

· “The people who’ve made the greatest change in this world—for good or bad—were not the smartest or the wealthiest. They were those with the deepest convictions.

· A conviction is a belief that shapes your behavior. It’s something you believe so strongly that it determines the way you act. While an opinion is something you’ll discuss or even argue about, a conviction is something you’ll die for.

· It takes a while to develop a conviction like this to the point you will die upholding your belief, die defending what you hold dear.

· Peter didn’t have a conviction like this concerning Jesus and it’s understandable. Going beyond belief requires the Holy Spirit’s power to enable us.
