The Wisdom & Power of Living Paradoxically
Manage episode 341571792 series 2940410
In this 4-minute and 24-second Mini Nitty-Gritty episode, I explore the wisdom and power that comes to us and others when we live "paradoxically" and play "tug-a-war" with ideas and ideologies.
For us to hold tension in truth, to hold tension in an argument, and to understand the complexity of many things in life, we must stop seeing things as contradictions. Instead, we should choose to see them as a paradox or paradoxical truth.
A contradiction is ideas that are utterly opposed to one another, very different and therefore at odds with each other. More than likely, one is correct, and one is wrong. Now, when I think of a paradox, I see it as ideas that might seem contradictory on the surface, but once you get underneath it, you might find that there is truth on both sides.
We must see it as a "tug-of-war" and pull on both sides of an idea or argument. It's the only way to maintain the middle and find the truth.
Please overlook the rawness of the audio on this episode that I recorded on my iPhone at the picnic table at my campsite.
