The key word in this letter is “joy”. I need to choose it and I know that you do as well! But how? Paul is writing under Holy Spirit inspiration, in chains, yet no difficulties can rob him of his joy. Joy is not mere happiness, which is situational, it is rooted in spiritual realities. Our identity, and our citizenship.
Christ, though by very nature God, chose to become human, suffered death on a cross, and was exalted by God “to the highest place.”
He knows your suffering and promises to lift you up!
