Betsy is back on the show today!

Transcript:

Welcome to the art of living. Big podcast. My name is Betsy Peik. I’m an author, a speaker, and a trainer of NLP and hypnotherapy. And I’m focused on helping you understand and design your life with the power of the subconscious. This podcast is designed to help you think differently about what could be possible for your life. Now, let’s go live big.

Betsy:
Is this thing on? How do I use this?

Betsy:
Wait.

Betsy:
Hello, fellow adventurers. Oh, my gosh. It’s been so long since I’ve been here. I hardly know what to do. And I got kind of nervous. Like when you first start dating somebody and then you’re going to go see them, and then you’re like, I’m kind of nervous, but I’m excited, too. That’s what it’s like. I haven’t been here in several months, which if you’ve been here for a long time, you know, that’s highly, highly unusual.

Betsy:
I was consistent every single week with this podcast for seven years. And then last fall, I thought, I’m going to take a little break and do some searching. And I was sitting in meditation. I may have talked about that at the time, but I was really doing a lot of searching and decided to launch my program, the navigate method. Anyway, fast forward. It just took on a life of its own. And I kept thinking, I’m going to come back. I’m going to come back.

Betsy:
And I think I tried around Christmas time and truly, truly the moments of silence that I have had. I would lay on the floor and stare at the ceiling, like, oh, my God, I just need a minute to breathe. So there have really been so few moments where I could even think about what I wanted to talk about or what I wanted to share. And I don’t want to waste your time. Anytime I do these podcasts, I want to make sure that it’s something that’s relevant and important to you and all the things. So if you’re new here, welcome. I’m excited that you’re here. If you found me through Instagram, I’m excited that you’re here.

Betsy:
That algorithm was forever in my favor this fall, and I’m just really excited to be back. So here’s the thing. I’ve got a lot of stuff to share. And if you’ve been here for a long time, you know that there are times where I would do these coffee talk, like grab a cup of coffee, I’m going to just catch you up, sort of like we’re old friends, and I was trying to think about what do I talk about in this episode? Because it’s sort of like there’s so much to talk about. And then if I’m a good friend, I don’t want to be the only one talking. But since it’s just me, that’s kind.

Betsy:
Of how it’s going to be.

Betsy:
But I would love to hear from you and hear what has been up with you. I would love to hear what. If you have been a regular listener of this show and I wasn’t available, what did you listen to?

Betsy:
I want to know kind of what.

Betsy:
The go to has been. I want to know what books you’ve been reading. I want to know all the things. So with that said, let me just dive into all the things over here.

Betsy:
And it’s been so long, I didn’t select the microphone. So I think this probably sounds better. Yeah. Okay. All right, so let’s dive in. If you are new here, the reason that I say fellow, hello, fellow adventurers is really because I feel like that’s what we’re all on, like a big adventure coming down to have this physical reality and that all the ups and downs are really part of the adventure. Nothing better or worse than the other, but all really working for us. So hello, fellow adventurers has kind of been our call sign over here.

Betsy:
So if you’re new to that, welcome, welcome. All right, so let’s dive in here. So I’ve got some just random things that I want to tell you. Like if we were having coffee and I feel like as it happens so often, is that then it will move into whatever the message is supposed to be. So I’ll give you a couple of updates and we’ll kind of go from there. So if you’re not on my email list on Mondays I send out an email that I kind of tell a little story and then I give you three things that I’m currently excited about. And every week there’s something a little bit different. Sometimes it’s like stuff to buy, sometimes it’s a book or a product or something they’re not sponsored.

Betsy:
Although lots of times I have to put the little Amazon disclaimer because I can’t tell if my link from Amazon is the sponsored link. I mean, I think I make a penny if anybody clicks or buys something from the link. So, I mean, I don’t know that I’ve ever gotten paid from Amazon, but whatever. I gotta give the disclaimer because I’m so afraid of getting in trouble. But every once in a while it’s a thing from Amazon or it’s just something that I have found. So this week, one of the things that I shared, and actually, I’m going to share two things. One that made it to the list and one that didn’t make it to the list. But one of the things on the list is this stuff called, I think it’s Tru.

Betsy:
And the U has the little dots over the top. I know you know probably what that is. And so forgive me, because I don’t know the name of it. And then Fru with the little dots over the top. Right. So true fruit is what I think it is, but it’s flash frozen fruit, like cherries or raspberries. And then they dip them in white chocolate, and then they dip them in dark chocolate, and you buy them in the frozen food section, and they’re insanely amazing. And the cherries, they’re all, like, individual, right? So you could just grab one little piece.

Betsy:
So good. Please go get you some of those and take one whenever you want one. I think that you work really hard and you need to have one of these. It’s really amazing. And some people messaged me. I always get the cherry, but somebody messaged me and said, the raspberry is insane. And I’m a big raspberry fan, so I will be going to check those out. Okay.

Betsy:
The second thing, and this is something you’ve heard me talk about probably on the show before, but I have this thing called the nod pod. And you can get it on Amazon, but nod pod. And it’s this weighted eye pillow, basically. I love it because it’s got compartment. It’s got, like, four sections that are weighted. And so if you could imagine you laying on your back, two of the weighted sections are on your eyeballs, and then two of them kind of fall down to the side. I love them because I don’t ever have to worry about a bug crawling in my ear. Now, do I have bugs? No, I don’t.

Betsy:
But I saw a video once years ago about somebody that had a bug crawl in their ear at night and it couldn’t back out, and they had to go to the doctor, to the emergency room and get a bug taken out. And it freaked me out. And I think about it far too often. And so years ago, when I got the nod pod, I was like, this covers my ears. I don’t know. It gave me a layer of safety that I guess I really needed at the time. But the nod pod is amazing because it’s weighted. And so I think there’s something in that that makes you relax and antianxiety or whatever.

Betsy:
Okay. So not long ago, I found that, well, several years ago, I had a weighted blanket. And if you guys have ever had a weighted blanket, I was always a fan at the dentist office when you’d go and they’d put the weighted blanket on you when you’d go to have your x rays taken, right? And I would always joke, I want to bring this home. So when the whole weighted blanket thing came out, I was all on board, and I bought one. And I bought one that was, I think it was only, like, ten pounds, but it hurt my legs. It just made my feet hurt, and it hurt my legs. And although I liked it when I would first put it on, I didn’t like it long term, so my dog ended up using it and really loving it. But recently, within the past, like, six, eight months, I noticed that nod pod has a weighted blanket, but it’s only the size of your body, so it’s small.

Betsy:
It’s like the size of your torso. And it is so amazing. It’s so amazing. Go get you one. It’s kind of expensive. Well, I’ll tell you this. When I bought mine, I searched. It’s kind of expensive.

Betsy:
The nod pod one is like 70 or $80. So I went to find it because I was like, well, if nod pod is making them, somebody else is making them. And although I have the real nod pod for my eyes, I did find another place on Amazon that sells the small blankets that are weighted just like the nod pod. And it’s so great. So you need to get one. I hadn’t used it in, like, a month or so because I had put it on the side table and just never took it back in bed. And I kept forgetting. And so I was like, it’s fine.

Betsy:
But then the other day, I used it, and I remembered how soundly I sleep when I have that thing with me. And there’s something about it that makes it’s warm in a weird way. It kind of, like, heats up and, yeah, it’s just excellent. So check out nodpod, and then that’ll bring you to the nodpod little blanket. You’ll see what I mean. And then search to find a cheaper one because they are out there. And if I remember which I am good at remembering, I will put a link to it inside my next newsletter. So jump on my email list just by going to betsypeake.com, and you can get on the email list, like, scroll all the way to the bottom and just sign up for anything, and that will put you on the list, and you’ll get my three things for next week.

Betsy:
Okay. So then what have I been doing for the past, like, six months? Right. So I launched a program called the Navigate Method, which if you’ve been here for a long time or you’ve heard me speak, then you may have heard me talk about how my husband and I went through some things several years ago and how I left and did this, had my own sort of eat, pray, love experience and came back and kind of that journey. And so over the summer, last summer, I was just really meditating a lot. And, like, what’s the impact that I want to have on the world? And I feel like I’ve done some cool things, and I have really loved doing this show, but I felt like there was something more. And you’ve probably heard this before, but I truly believe this, that the hardest things, like, the hardest things for us to look at are the things that most need to be healed and the place where then we can have the biggest impact. Right. Because when we learn how to do something that’s hard, I think there’s an element of a human responsibility to share that path with other people.

Betsy:
Now, if you’re not a coach or you don’t do the work that I do, it might be just sharing it with people that are close to you or people that you encounter that are going through something similar. And so last summer, when I was just really meditating on this and trying to figure out what is it that I want moving forward, what’s the impact that I want to have and how do I want to make that? And I realized one of the hardest things that I’ve ever gone through was that experience. And so I started poring through all of my old journals. I’m a big journal fan, and if you’ve been here a while, you’ve heard me talk about how I use an app called Day one, which is really cool because it’s all online. I use my iPad. I’ve used this app for, like, I don’t know, probably, like, ten years. There’s so many. I have a million jillion posts.

Betsy:
And so I could go back to the dates that I knew that all of this was transpiring. Right. And I could read what I was writing and what I was feeling and what I was going through, and then the things that I did. I’m a trainer of NLP, and I’ve got a lot of tools and resources, like, a ton, but there were specific things that I did that I realized were holding me back or staying in my way or that I was getting stuck on. And there were tools that I used to move through those. So I created my program, the navigate method to help women walk through that whole process. The fascinating thing to me, honestly, in all of this, the most fascinating thing was that when the first group started going through, they would say, you know what I feel like I got to do now is this. And I would be like, oh my God, that’s next week.

Betsy:
Or, you know, what’s the biggest issue I’ve had is this issue. And I’m like, oh my God, that’s week seven. Or they’ll start saying, I feel like my husband’s starting to change as they go through this work. What we find is that as women start to do their own healing because they’re reacting to things different, their husbands start to react to them differently, right? So they start creating a different outcome. But there were different things that were happening where they were. Like, I feel like I’m starting to see these changes in my husband, but I’m having a lot of internal chatter about it. And I was like, oh my God, that’s week six. Like, I already had that programmed because that’s the experience that I was going through in that order.

Betsy:
It kind of reminded me of the stages of grief. You know, like everybody goes through certain stages. It reminded me of that, right? Like everybody kind of goes through these phases and they happen in a sequence. I really believe that. And after working with so many women that have come through this program now, I mean, it’s been incredible. And so many of their experiences are so similar. It’s really amazing. And so it’s been an amazing thing to watch.

Betsy:
So anyway, if you want to find out more about that program, just go to my website, the betsypeake.com, and the very first thing you’ll see there is, do you think your marriage is doomed and just click that? And there’s a free video. It’s a master class that I did way back when I first started offering this program. And it kind of explains some major shifts that I think you really got to take if you want to create change in your life. So anyway, that has been really taking my focus for all of these months, and it’s been really incredible and a lot of growth and a lot of personal growth for me, a lot of stepping into a new version of me. And we talk about that a lot on the show. How do you show up? And who’s the version of you that you’re becoming. And anytime any entrepreneur will tell you, and if you’re an entrepreneur listening, you know, it’s like the biggest personal development course in the world is being an entrepreneur. And so having to hire people and work in the capacity of leadership and do that has just been really expanding for me and really fun.

Betsy:
So one of the things I have been really consistent throughout is really diving into my own practice every single day. I do self hypnosis every single day. Right. Guided meditations. And I’m really focused on creating from a level of steadiness and peace. One of the things that I had written on my whiteboard, and it’s actually still on my whiteboard, I’ll read it. But I wrote it last summer, and at the time, I was like, there’s probably actions I need to take, but I was like, I’m just sitting in meditation. I’m really figuring this out.

Betsy:
Like, I really was soul level searching on how I wanted to do this and what I wanted it to look like. And honestly, the whole program started to feel like this, the only way I can describe it. And I’m moving my hands right now like an orb, like a breathing thing. It started to feel like its own breathing thing, like its own thing. And I felt like I was sort of picked to run with this thing. But if I hadn’t stepped up and done it and worked past a lot of fears. If you guys have been here a while, you know, I hate doing reels. Like, it would scare me, but I overcame a lot of things.

Betsy:
I do some reels, but a lot of these things, to be able to be the one to kind of lead and guide this orb thing. So I’m going to tell you what was written on my whiteboard, and it says, this is my old reality that is in the process of changing into something new. And I have said this a million, million times. I read it on my whiteboard every day. And it’s something that when things aren’t going my way, so I share it with you, because perhaps you could adopt it when you go to the movies. A movie is a million tiny little pictures, right? It’s still. Still, they all are gone together so that they look like a moving picture, and that’s how our life is. But if we replay the same things over and over, it appears that we’re stuck, right? It appears that there’s no movement, nothing’s happening.

Betsy:
And I don’t think that’s true. I think your life is constantly changing, but you are so not you, but us as a whole. I have done this many times, us, we are so focused on what we’ve already got. We’re so focused on the current reality that we don’t like that we don’t realize we’re recreating it by spending so much time focusing on it. And so if you could suspend disbelief, if you could say, this is the reality that I’m seeing, but it’s in the process of changing, so now I have to be looking for what it’s turning into. Right now, I need to be shifting and start noticing and picking up the little clues that tell me where this is headed. And so that’s really what this felt like. It felt like this moving orbie thing, right? That had kind of come into my life while I was meditating and said, hey, do you want to do this? And the name, so much alignment just came to me, and it’s the perfect name.

Betsy:
I can’t tell you how many times we’re in group and someone says, as I try to navigate this, and I laugh under my breath because I’m like, yeah, navigate it, right. The navigate method. It’s so cool. It’s been such a cool thing. Okay, so I want to say one other thing because I truly believe this, and you’ve probably heard Liz Gilbert, if you read her book, what’s that magic book that she wrote? What’s it called? Hang on, I’m going to look. One sec. As soon as I paused, I knew. Big magic.

Betsy:
It’s called big magic. But she talks about how ideas will come to you and that if you’re not ready to deal with them, if you’re not ready to take it to the next level, it will leave you and it will drift off to somebody else. And I remember years ago, and you might remember this if you’ve been around here for a little while or you’ve been in my Facebook group, but years ago, I got this idea, and I want to say I was meditating or deep soul searching, however deep streaming, how I do that. But I got this idea and was a program that was called the mindful body. In fact, I saved the URL, and I think I did like a prelaunch to see if there was any kind of interest in it. And honestly, I think I lost interest. There wasn’t a lot. I didn’t do a very good job sharing it, and it kind of petered out.

Betsy:
And I was like, man. Anyway, I saw recently over maybe the end of last summer, a book came out called the mindful body. Apparently. It’s amazing. I’m sure it’s not the same content because this woman’s like a PhD, and mine was more about self hypnosis for body integration and change. But her expertise, the name, I just feel like the name probably drifted away from me, right, and into her. And then she picked it up and ran with, it’s such a good name. I was, like, so happy to hear somebody was doing something with it because I remember when that came, it felt kind of special, but I just wasn’t in the position to do anything with it.

Betsy:
Anyway, when the navigate method came to me, it also felt special. And recently I was talking to my coach and he was saying, you should make sure you have the URL saved for that. And so I put in the URL like, the navigatemethod.com and somebody has it and I was, like, really devastated. So I went to GoDaddy and I submitted, like, you can buy it, so they’ll help broker it for $65 or something. They would help me broker a deal. Yeah. Guess who owns that? Me. I already own it.

Betsy:
I tried to broker a deal with myself that I realized I already owned it, so I was smart enough. But the mindful body URL is gone now, so I hope that whoever wrote that book has picked that up. So anyway, the magic exists. It’s all around us. But when we’re so focused on all of the places that we need to be or should be or could be or what we wish we’d done or how we screwed that up or all of the other things, then it pulls us away from the moment of being really present. And I know I struggle with that, too. And so I know how frustrating that can be and to feel like you’re spinning your wheels and not getting anywhere. But the truth is that there’s magic waiting, like, gurgling underneath the surface, waiting for you to notice it, for you to stick your hand in there and be like, I want to participate in this, but I think it doesn’t happen when we’re too far ahead.

Betsy:
It doesn’t happen when we’re avoiding crap from the past. I’ll tell you, I know so many coaches that are really incredible, and they keep. I’ll hear them say, I know it’s going to take off. I got to believe. And I always have thought, like, I know different things have taken off for me when I’ve dealt with my crap, right? When we deal with our crap, then it’s no longer pulling us away and we can really be present. So how does this end, this show today? Maybe it ends with a call to look at your crap. I don’t know. Maybe that’s for you, maybe it’s not.

Betsy:
Maybe it’s not the right time yet, but maybe that time is coming anyway. If it’s coming and you want to look at it through the lens of your relationship, I think it’s an incredible place to be able to really have yourself and your hangups and fears and unhealed parts reflected back to you. What an incredible experience to be able to do it in that envelope. Right. And then to be able to make big choices for yourself. So one other thing is I’m going to be in California in April, outside LA. I’m going to be like Huntington beach area. And I’m saying I’m trying.

Betsy:
I will. I’m going to say I’m trying. I might. I would like to plan a meetup. I know I’ve talked to a bunch of people that are interested, and I do want to try and put that together. I’m going for a conference, and so I’m just trying to figure out timing. One of the things that I really try to do is protect my energy. And I know when I’m with in big conferences like that, sometimes it gets overdone.

Betsy:
I get overdone. So I want to make sure I maintain my own sanity in all of that. But I would love. It’s one of my most favorite things, to be able to hug y’all. When I was in Baltimore, I did one. I had a speaking gig, I think it was like probably about a year ago, and I had a speaking gig and met with a small group of people, and it was just so fun. We got coffee and just chatted and it was just really good to see everybody, like, real, live in person. All right, I will let you go.

Betsy:
But I did it like, I broke the seal. I came back. So I feel like now I can do it again and again and again because that’s what happens. It just takes one brave moment to come back. So thank you for welcoming me back into your ears and into your space. I hope we had a good walk together, maybe a good commute on your way to work or just when you’re puttering around the house. So I appreciate you. I’m so thankful that you listen and I’ve missed being here with you.

Betsy:
So thank you. Thank you. All right. I love you all so much. I’ll talk to you soon. Bye bye. Hey, thanks so much for listening to today’s show, and thank you for sharing the show with your friends.

Betsy:
I love when you guys do that.

Betsy:
I appreciate it so much. And thank you for leaving me a review on iTunes. I know that it matters because when I go to find a podcast, I always look to see what the reviews are. So it really means a lot to me that you take a minute to figure out how to even make that happen. Now, if you want to find me, find me on social media. I’m usually on Instagram, starting out on TikTok. It’s just my name, betsype. And that’s my website, too, betsype.com.

Betsy:
And you can find out all about the work that I do, having me speak for an event that you might be helping to plan or getting trained inside my alchemy institute. But to make it really easy, if you want me, just shoot me a DM. Shoot me a direct message on Instagram and I will be at your service. Thanks again for listening, and I will see you all next week.
