Welcome to Episode 62! MTT Coach Gareth James and Peak Performance Strategist Dr. Tricia Cardner are back after a too-long hiatus! In this episode we break down all the fun we had between last year’s SCOOP, WSOP & our book release (Purposeful Practice for Poker). Gareth also previewed his current WCOOP plans including an announcement that he will be hosting a free webinar where he reviews hist most interesting WCOOP hands, so check out https://www.facebook.com/events/729678507472967/ for more info on that!
Then we got into an interesting hand sent in by Zac from a $109 WCOOP freeze-out event. The hand features a blind versus blind spot with 26bbs effective. We break down all the action and talk about decision points on all streets.
Then Tricia led a discussion on some common illusions of competence that can impede our ability to learn poker effectively. Learning takes effort and reading one book or watching one video is not going to make you an expert. There is a difference between feeling informed on a topic and really knowing it.
Really knowing something means you should be able to:
• Explain it in detail using your own words
• Relate it to other facts and concepts
• Understand why it is so
