In this Brothaspeak Podcast we interview the Creator and Founder of HEETIZM which is a yearly event that caters to Big Men of Color celebrating Big Men of Color. Heetizm Myami Urban Bear Weekend started on the 4th of July weekend in 2011 to give Big men of color the ultimate 4 day getaway weekend in sunny Miami Florida. 5 years later Heetizm Myami is one of the top Urban Bear events that believes in providing; quality, comfort, friendly service, and plenty of fun filled activities throughout the entire event weekend, Miami Style.

Jason Whitesel (Ph.D., Ohio State University) is a Women’s & Gender Studies faculty member at Pace University. His research focuses on gay men’s rigid body image ideal and the resulting intragroup strife among them. His recent book, Fat Gay Men: Girth, Mirth, and the Politics of Stigma (NYUP, 2014), describes events at Girth & Mirth club gatherings and examines how big gay men use campy-queer behavior to reconfigure and reclaim their sullied images and identities.
