Want to buy a home? Search all homes for sale
I recently found this list that I wanted to share with you. It covers home renovations and which ones you should avoid if you plan on selling your home in the near future. These improvements will actually deter buyers from looking at homes.
1. Too much wallpaper. Buyers don’t want to have to tear down a bunch of wallpaper in order to paint. They want it to be ready for them to paint when they move in.
2. Lavish lighting fixtures. You might have a different sense of style than the buyer, so keep it simple with the lighting fixtures.
3. Textured walls, wall coverings, and ceilings.
4. The wrong flooring. This can be detrimental to a home sale. Flooring is expensive to replace, and most buyers want plain, neutral decor when they move in.
5. Too much carpet. If the carpet holds dirt and traffic patterns, most buyers won’t want to see that everywhere.
6. Bold wall colors. Stay away from these. Bright, loud colors are bad. Neutral, soft colors are good.
7. Swimming pools and hot tubs. You may like them, but many buyers won’t want to deal with, or pay for, the maintenance.
These are just a few of the things that stood out to me from the article above. These could all significantly hurt your home value, so be extra careful when preparing your home for sale. If you have any questions at all, don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I would love to hear from you!
