Join me, Jason LaChance host of the @KnockinDoorzDown certified addiction recovery coach, and mental health advocate for my sit down with my father Rene LaChance.

This conversation was recorded around Christmas of 2022. It is by far the most personal and most difficult conversation I have ever had on the podcast. Recently celebrating 3 years of continual sobriety I finally felt in a place to be able to share this episode.

You will hear the various traumas that my father went through which include mental, emotional, and sexual abuse which led to my father living on his own at the age of 14. His mother and father both had various issues around codependency and sexual addiction and his mother struggled with medication. My dad lost his brother, my uncle, due to overmedicating and passing out, his lit cigarette caught his home on fire.

My dad and my mom married when he was only 17, and eventually, when his brain matured around 26, issues started to arise. Now sober for over 20 years my dad wanted to share his journey offering hope to others that they can overcome whatever adversity they've faced.

We discuss the following and more.

How did generational trauma play out in our family? 2:40

Getting Married At 17? 10:54

Working Hard Is All I knew, I was alone at 14. 28:17

No outside solutions to Inside Problems 39:27

How did you maintain long-term sobriety? 53:56

This is my dad, Rene Lachance Knockin’ Doorz Down.
