  1. In your book, Outsmarting Obesity, you write extensively about the Healthy At Every Size Movement (HAES). Can you explain what the "Healthy at Every Size" (HAES) movement is, especially for those who might not be familiar with it?
  2. Your book "Outsmarting Obesity" addresses the obesity epidemic. Can you briefly outline the key concerns or challenges contributing to this issue?
  3. Are there studies or evidence suggesting any limitations or challenges with the HAES philosophy in promoting long-term health outcomes?
  4. What are your main critiques of the "Healthy at Every Size" (HAES) movement, especially in the context of managing and addressing obesity?
  5. What adjustments or considerations would you recommend for public health strategies to address both obesity and the principles of body positivity effectively?

Dr. Stewart Lonky, a practicing physician specializing in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine and critical care, with a biochemistry background and a 10 year career at UCSD medical school and now in private practice for 35 years.

Dr. Lonky has a strong background in toxicology and legal medicine and also has an MBA from Pepperdine University and has served as Chief Medical Officer and Regulatory Affairs Director for a medical device company. He has a strong research background, facing problems with patients who are getting more obese, year after year, compromising my ability to care for them as outpatients and as inpatients.
