This will also be the final episode in our long series on the tumultuous era of the 1960's including the assassination of a President, the Civil Rights Movement, The Vietnam War, the Presidency of Lyndon Johnson, the Presidency of Richard Nixon and the Watergate Scandal. This is a great companion to and a much more succinct presentation of the materials we covered throughout our podcast documentary. Just an FYI there are moments when a CLE code is played and it sounds like an Emergency broadcast test. We appreciate all of you who have tuned in throughout the past five seasons and we especially want to thank Geoff Shepard for all of his help in putting this entire series on Watergate together. It has been a pleasure and an honor to have played a small part in teaching the public the true facts about a great man who served as our 37th President of the United States, Richard Nixon.…

1:09:25Send us a text In this special edition we look back at a giant of the American Justice System. Lawrence Silberman is a man most people, including me, had probably never heard of unless you were knowledgeable about the law. I was introduced to him because he was on a panel examining the massive evidence of prosecutorial misconduct that the 2013 Freedom of Information Act lawsuit by Geoff Shepard had uncovered. It was a symposium on the papers of Watergate hosted by The Federalist Society. That Symposium will be featured on our podcast all next week. The legal experts that are participating in that symposium are impressive to say the least. we are honored that The Federalist Society has granted our show permission to share the event with you. Sadly, just over two weeks after the symposium Judge Silberman passed away at age 86. The suddenness of his passing had me curious to learn more about him, when I did , I realized that this man was an impressive one. In this episode, we will hear from Judge Laurence Silberman on a range of topics including, his role in protecting the second amendment in a ruling that struck down the Washington D.C. gun policy, his thoughts on free speech in this modern age, the Rowe v Wade decision, His thoughts on the court system, the number of lawyers in the United States, and his role as a co-chair on the special committee that looked into the second Gulf War and how we got involved in it. This is one fascinating episode about one of the most fascinating individuals in modern American History and a man that almost no one in the general public has even heard of, until now. It is a tribute to a giant.…

1:05:55Send us a text This is the final episode in our look at the oral history of FBI Field Agent Angelo Lano. It covers the Saturday Night Massacre, his opinion of John Dean, and his thoughts on the reporting of the Washington Post's Woodward and Bernstein. It is a fascinating look into what the investigators thought of the case as it unfolded in front of them. On a side note, this is the type of broadcast we plan to run if we are renewed for a seventh season. Please let me know what you think and feel free to email me here from Buzzsprout, my personal email Randalrgw1@aol.com or at my website RandalWallace.com. If you like this format we hope to be able to return to the air in early 2025 with a seventh season and let you hear the many different oral histories of those interviewed by the Richard Nixon Library. And we will only offer our editorial opinions at the start of each broadcast. Now , we hope you enjoy our remaining episodes from our original Richard Nixon documentary podcasts, that were heard first on our sister podcast "Randal Wallace Presents" formerly "Bridging the Political Gap" Thanks again, Randal Theme song is Produced by Danya Vodovoz, link to my song https://youtu.be/NRxduUMZcdw…

1:03:11Send us a text In this second of our three episode oral history with FBI Field Agent Angelo Lano we listen in as he talks about dealing with FBI second in command Mark Felt. Felt turned out to be the secret source for The Washington Post’s Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein. It is interesting to hear how Felt was willing to allow his team of FBI agents come under suspicion as the leaks continued to occur during the ongoing investigation of Watergate. This is a very interesting oral history. Theme song is Produced by Danya Vodovoz, link to my song https://youtu.be/NRxduUMZcdw…

1:01:24Send us a text In our first episode of its kind we will let you listen to the oral history of FBI Field Agent Angelo J. Lano. He was in charge of the investigation of the Watergate break-in from its start until it ended. His insights are profound. In this episode he will discuss John Dean and his role in Watergate, tracking down Howard Hunt, and chasing the money trail that would lead to Ken Dahlberg and a Mexican Attorney. You will hear him confirm, even before Geoff shepard showed it to the world, that the real motivation for Nixon asking the CIA to halt the FBI investigation was not to stop Watergate but instead to protect the identity of ADM Chairman Dwayne Andreas, a lifelong Democratic donor. You will get insights on the inner workings of both the FBI as well, and how it interacted with both the CIA and the White House. The next three episodes are a test case before we conclude our long running rebroadcast of our series looking back at the life and career of Richard Nixon. If these three episodes are well received, and we would love to hear your opinion too, we may renew for a seventh season and pour through the wealth of oral histories of the Nixon Library to bring them here to the Richard Nixon Experience for you to hear. Let us hear your opinion too, through email here through our show, or at Randalrgw1@aol.com my personal email, or through our website RandalWallace.com Theme song is Produced by Danya Vodovoz, link to my song https://youtu.be/NRxduUMZcdw…

1:06:00Send us a text In this final look back at the phone calls of Richard Nixon with Alexander Haig it is December of 1972 and January of 1973. The end of the War for America in Vietnam seems at hand. We will hear the two men work on these final problems and issues concerning getting an agreement to end the war. We will also hear them as they learn of the death of President Nixon's predecessor Lyndon Johnson and the ultimate irony that he would die literally on the eve of peace and not live to see it for himself. This is an extraordinary look inside the White House at one of the most difficult times in all of our history, listening in on two of history's most significant players.…

1:04:52Send us a text In this episode, we see President Nixon moving in on what he believes will be peace in Vietnam. However, it is not without issues and games being played by not only our enemies in Hanoi, or their allies in Peking and Moscow, but also by our own friends in Saigon too. This is a fascinating look at the end of the War in Vietnam that so divided the nation and we listen in on the thoughts of the men who brought that war to an end, Richard Nixon and one of his assistants General Alexander Haig. These calls cover mostly 1972.…

29:22Send us a text In this second episode on General alexander Haig , we will listen in on the phone calls between the President and the Assistant National Security Advisor Al Haig. These are the calls from 1971 and they cover several different subjects from the theft of the Pentagon Papers, to issues in Africa, to the Indian - Pakistan War. Plus the war in Vietnam. We have used some of these calls in our earlier series on Vietnam and some are shared here for the first time. What you will hear is a President in firm control of his foreign policy and the adept way Alexander Haig assisted Henry Kissinger in carrying it out. These next three episodes are a chance for you to hear the thinking and the strategy of an American President during war time working to get our troops and POW's out and how the same President handles a various array of issues and problems. these are the calls between Nixon and Haig and we hope you will enjoy them and find them insightful too.…

1:20:37Send us a text This is the first episode in a four episode special series looking back at the life of General Alexander Haig. Haig served several Presidents, working most closely with Presidents Nixon, Ford and Reagan. He has been a major player throughout the time periods we have been covering throughout the entire storyline of our podcast. He has been such a large player throughout the run of our series and we thought here at what will be his last major appearance in our timeline that now was a time to look back at Al Haig, so that you could get a full picture of this man who played such a major role in four major historic moments in our nation's history: The Vietnam War, Watergate, the Nixon Pardon by Ford, and The Reagan State Department. To say Alexander Haig was a major player in all of these events would be a major understatement. All three of these Presidents relied on Haig for advice an understanding of the World. Over the final months of the Vietnam War, Haig helped guide the President to the conclusion, as we shall see in this special series, and it is alleged he may have also later helped guide Richard Nixon out of the Presidency. Haig's role in the Nixon years, especially, is not without controversy, some of which I was unaware of when I started this podcast several years ago. In this episode we will look back at several historic moments from the life of Alexander Haig. We start first at the moment that most likely ended his political life when he stepped up to the cameras and insisted he was incharge of the government after the assassination attempt on President Reagan. We will hear from the man himself, from an interview he gave while attempting to run for President in his own right in 1988. We will hear of his role in the pardon of Richard Nixon from Gerald Ford, and we will hear of his successes as Secretary of State including his role in trying to prevent the Falklands War. But it is his role at the end of Vietnam, and at the end of the Nixon Administration itself that has engendered the most controversy, including accusations that at some point he may have been involved in a spy ring against the President from the Joints Chiefs of Staff, and also that he may have been a secret source for the Washington Post's journalistic team of Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, while also managing the Nixon White House as its Chief of Staff. We will examine it all here in this first of four episodes on General Alexander Haig.…

54:53Send us a text Henry Kissinger, a giant of American History, and arguably the nations greatest diplomat died on November 29, 2023 at the age of 100. In this episode we look back at his extraordinary 100 years as he worked with Richard Nixon to bring peace to millions of people around the world and keep our nation safe here at home. His passing comes at an unusual moment as our rebroadcast of the Nixon Podcast Documentary is, in December, coming to the section that brings to a close the end of the Vietnam War. The bulk of the coming episodes is a window into this extraordinary partnership between one of the four greatest Presidents in American History and one of its greatest diplomats, as they bring to a close a war that ripped apart the American people as few things have over its nearly 250 year history. We invite you to tune in, in December, to a month that will be dedicated to the memory of Henry Kissinger as it shows you in real time the true story of how the Vietnam War ended. So please join us at "The Richard Nixon Experience" (a link is provided in the chapter lists) or go through our back catalogue here at "Randal Wallace Presents" for a chance to deep dive into the most comprehensive examination of the Nixon tapes available online, other than at Luke Nichter's www.Nixontapes.org website. You can also visit www.RandalWallace.com to hear our show and read all about these podcasts. We want to thank CNN News and FOX News whose reports and two interviews we used to tell this story, as quickly as we could. Henry Kissinger was 100 years old.…

33:55Send us a text In this special edition we will examine the recently declassified letter written by former President Richard Nixon to President Bill Clinton just after his two week trip to Russia and Europe. In the letter Richard Nixon gives the young President a thorough examination of what he thinks is happening in Russia, Ukraine and in Europe. In it he stresses the importance in helping Russia preserve its new found freedoms and helping it get on its feet economically and he discusses the dire consequences that could happen if we fail. It reads as though a psychic wrote it. It is a powerful letter and it was appreciated at the time by President Clinton and it is even more appreciated today. It really puts on display the brilliance of our former President and a man who ranks among our greatest American leaders in the history of the Republic. Here is a fine example, bold, strategic, insightful and full of visionary advice, as to why that latter statement is true.…
