WHO IS LAURA?
Laura DeSisto is a lifelong writer and reader. When her children left the nest, despite her lifelong fear of sharks, she took up scuba diving and got quickly hooked on the sport. Since then, she has had numerous close encounters with the world's most dangerous sharks and says that facing down one of her biggest fears has totally transformed her. Taking up scuba diving led her into a whole new world of people and adventures. She details these experiences in her award-winning memoir, "Resurfacing: sisterhood, sharks and storms." She holds a degree in English from Boston College.
