This week (11/21) on a Trauma Survivor Thriver’s Podcast, Cody Peterson, the author of The Shadow of a Figure of Light joins Lorilee Binstock and talks about the concept of the shadow and how it relates to addiction. Cody is a recovering alcoholic and drug addict who has been sober for over 11 years. He discusses how the shadow is the unconscious part of our personalities that contains repressed traits and characteristics that we may not be aware of. Peterson also shares how confronting our shadow can be a painful but necessary process in our healing journey. Cody shares his spiritual journey, which began as a practicing Christian but later expanded to include Eastern philosophies and teachings from figures like Carl Jung.
