Much is made about the creative decisions in ads for the Big Game, but how does all that money, those requisite celebrity cameos, and everything else that goes into these multi-million dollar investments translate into Return on investment? Today we’re going to talk about what the numbers tell us from all those high-profile ads and who the winners and losers of the Advertising Bowl are in 2025. To help me discuss this topic, I’d like to welcome Nataly Kelly, CMO at Zappi, who unveiled their annual Super Bowl Ad Success report on Monday. We’re here to talk about the approach, the results, and what those results mean for brands that invested a lot of money - and time - into their campaigns. ×In this thought-provoking episode, Scott Smith tackles the age-old question of whether you're meant to be in the spotlight or play a different role. Through personal stories and insights from his own journey and his son's musical aspirations, Scott explores the internal conflict many face between wanting to be "the star" and finding their true calling. Drawing from his experience as an "introverted extrovert," Scott challenges listeners to examine their authentic desires versus societal expectations. He shares how he discovered that being a hybrid – someone who can lead from both the front and behind the scenes – ultimately led to greater fulfillment and success. Featured Story: Scott shares a compelling personal narrative about his son's journey to become a rock star, including a pivotal moment at the Whiskey a Go Go on Sunset Strip. This story serves as a launching point to discuss the importance of understanding whether you truly want to be in the spotlight or if your talents might be better suited to a different role. Key Takeaways: Being in the spotlight isn't necessary for success or fulfillment Your natural inclinations might differ from your perceived aspirations It's possible to be a hybrid – someone who can lead from both front and backstage Success often comes from aligning your role with your authentic desires Pushing yourself into an ill-fitting role can lead to unnecessary frustration Understanding your true motivations is crucial for career satisfaction Memorable Quotes: "I'm very comfortable being out in front with zero need to be in front." "The absolute truth of being a real rock star is you spend your whole entire life on a tour bus." "I'm happier when I'm kind of producing the show a little bit, but I've got behind the scenes." Scott's Three-Step Approach: Honestly assess whether you genuinely want to be in the spotlight or if you're pursuing it based on others' expectations Identify your true motivations and what actually drives your satisfaction Align your actions with your authentic desires, whether that means stepping into the spotlight or finding your perfect supporting role Connect With Scott: Search for The Daily Boost on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. In this energetic episode, Scott Smith challenges the common belief that "showing up is half the battle." Drawing from personal experiences, including a profound pre-wedding conversation with a pastor, Scott reveals why 50% effort isn't enough for true success. He explains why full commitment—giving 100% consistently—is essential for achieving your goals, whether in relationships, career, or personal growth. Through engaging storytelling and practical wisdom, Scott shares why stepping out of your comfort zone and fully committing to your goals, despite the fear and doubt, is crucial for creating the life you want. His authentic approach and real-world examples make this episode a must-listen for anyone ready to move beyond halfway measures and embrace total commitment. Featured Story: Scott shares a pivotal moment before his first wedding when a pastor challenged his "50-50" view of commitment. This enlightening conversation revealed that success in marriage—and in life—requires a 100-100 approach, where both parties give their all, even when the other person can only give 80%. This lesson transformed Scott's understanding of true commitment. Key Takeaways: True commitment requires 100% effort, not just showing up or giving 50% Fear and doubt are natural parts of commitment, but they shouldn't stop you You must get "out of the vacuum" of your head and into the real world Being in the game is different from watching from the sidelines Real success comes from consistent, full commitment, not partial effort When someone gives 80%, you need to give 120% to maintain 100% commitment Memorable Quotes: "If you can make 100% commitment to something, life is good. Anything less than that is not so good." "I want you to figure out what you want. I want you to go get it. I want you to do what makes your heart sing." "Without doubt, you can't have hope. And without fear, you can't have hope." Scott's Three-Step Approach: Acknowledge and accept that commitment will be scary—it's a natural part of growth Move beyond just showing up by giving 100% effort in everything you pursue Get out of your head and into the game by taking real-world action Connect With Scott: Search for The Daily Boost on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. In this engaging episode, Scott Smith shares his powerful "Bridge Concept" for achieving personal transformation. Drawing inspiration from the Hoover Dam bypass construction, Scott reveals how successful people approach their goals with both optimism and realism. Through colorful analogies and real-world examples, Scott explains why having a solid foundation in your current life is crucial before building toward your dreams. He emphasizes the importance of being honest about where you are today while methodically creating the pathway to where you want to be. Using his signature blend of humor and practical wisdom, Scott demonstrates how transformation isn't about quick fixes but about building a strong span between your present and future foundations. Featured Story: Scott shares a pivotal lesson learned in a sports bar, where he observed highly successful professionals who combined optimism with pragmatism. This revelation shaped his coaching philosophy: while it's great to dream big, real success comes from taking practical steps and facing reality head-on. As Scott puts it, "When that unicorn isn't available, we just got to call the Uber." Key Takeaways: Success requires a solid current foundation before building toward future goals Transformation is more valuable than simple transactional changes Your current situation must be stable enough to support future growth If you don't know your purpose, your purpose is to find your purpose The "span" between foundations consists of daily actions toward your goal Making the leap to your new life typically happens at about 70% progress Memorable Quotes: "Real people do real things. We want to stay upbeat and positive, we want to ride a unicorn whenever we possibly can. But when that unicorn is not available, we just got to call the Uber." "If you don't know your purpose, your purpose is to find your purpose." "Is your foundation as it is today absolutely solid? Is it what I like to term a peaceful base?" Scott's Three-Step Approach: 1. Assess and stabilize your current foundation - ensure you have a "peaceful base" 2. Clearly define your desired future foundation - what you want to build toward 3. Create and execute the daily actions that form the span between foundations Connect With Scott: Search for The Daily Boost on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. In this powerful episode of The Daily Boost, Scott Smith tackles the common habit of waiting for permission to pursue our dreams. Drawing from his personal experience as a pilot, Scott reveals how many of us unconsciously seek approval before taking action on our goals. Through engaging storytelling and practical wisdom, he demonstrates why this mindset holds us back from achieving our full potential. The episode kicks off with Scott sharing his proven workout routine for functional fitness, emphasizing the importance of taking action rather than just listening to advice. He then masterfully weaves in his aviation journey to illustrate how breaking free from the permission-seeking mindset can transform our approach to life's challenges. Featured Story Scott shares his journey of becoming a pilot and confronting his fear of air traffic controllers. His flight instructor's pivotal advice - "You're the pilot in command" - becomes a powerful metaphor for taking charge of our lives. This realization transformed not only his flying experience but also his entire approach to pursuing goals. Key Takeaways You don't need permission from others to pursue your dreams and goals Being scared when starting something new is natural, but shouldn't stop you You are the "pilot in command" of your own life Taking action is more important than collecting strategies and techniques No one is watching or judging your decisions as much as you think Functional fitness requires consistency and simple, proven approaches The biggest obstacles often exist in our own minds Memorable Quotes "You're the pilot in command of your life. You're in charge. You're the grown-ass adult who's in charge." "Figure out what you want to do and have the freaking courage to go after it. That's it." "I can reach any goal when I focus on what means the most." Scott's Three-Step Approach Identify what you truly want to do without seeking external validation Take immediate action rather than waiting for the perfect moment or permission Stay consistent with your chosen path, just like with Scott's workout routine Connect With Scott: Search for The Daily Boost on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. In this energizing episode of The Daily Boost, Scott Smith dives into the four essential D's of creating lasting change in your life. With his signature straight-talk approach, Scott breaks down why aimless wandering isn't serving you and introduces a practical framework for making real progress. Through personal insights and authentic examples, Scott challenges common misconceptions about decision-making and introduces a powerful perspective on commitment. He explains why finding your "what" matters more than your "why" and shares how to protect your progress once you've made it. Packed with actionable wisdom and Scott's trademark humor, this episode delivers the motivation and strategic thinking you need to stop spinning your wheels and start creating real change in your life. Featured Story Scott introduces his framework for creating meaningful change through the four D's: Define, Decide (with Commitment), Deploy, and Defend. He challenges traditional thinking about decision-making and explains why commitment trumps mere decisions. Scott emphasizes the importance of defending your progress against both external and internal threats, using real-world examples to illustrate his points. Key Takeaways Finding your "what" is more important than your "why" when initiating change. True decisions require commitment, not just choosing a direction. Taking "massive and perfect" action removes the paralysis of perfectionism. Change is a continuous process that requires active defense. Being prepared for obstacles is realistic, not negative thinking. Success requires both implementation and protection of your progress. Memorable Quotes "New level, new devil - always something new to learn." "Take massive and perfect action because you're going to mess up anyway." "You're not going to go after it if you haven't committed - don't even try." Scott's Three-Step Approach Define your specific "what" instead of getting lost in the "why." Make a genuine commitment rather than just a decision. Deploy your plan with the understanding that it won't be perfect. Featured Story: Scott shares how a 6:40 AM text from his pastor containing a powerful quote sparked a deeper discussion about self-awareness and personal truth during his Face Your Passion coaching session. In this engaging episode, Scott Smith explores the fascinating parallel between life and jigsaw puzzles. Unlike puzzles that come with a picture on the box and all the pieces inside, life doesn't provide us with such clear instructions. Scott shares personal stories about his grandson's puzzle competition and his father's paint-by-numbers hobby to illustrate how we approach life's challenges. Through these analogies, Scott reveals that success isn't about racing to finish first or staying perfectly within the lines. Instead, it's about understanding your current view, developing necessary skills, and recognizing when timing is right for your next move. Featured Story: Scott recalls his father's dedicated paint-by-numbers hobby in the laundry room "man cave." This story illustrates how we often try to follow predetermined patterns in life, but reality rarely matches the picture on the box. Sometimes, the best approach is finding your own way while maintaining awareness of your direction. Key Takeaways: Life, unlike puzzles, doesn't come with a complete picture or all the pieces upfront Success requires zooming in from the 30,000-foot view to understand what's really happening Developing skills takes time and consistent effort Timing plays a crucial role in achieving your goals Facing scary situations is necessary for growth Focus on developing specific skills rather than trying to master everything Memorable Quotes: "Today's the day to start. Not yesterday and not tomorrow." "The more you do that, the better off you're going to be." "Take your time and learn." Scott's Three-Step Approach: Zoom in and become aware of what's really happening in your situation Work on developing specific skills needed for your goals Give yourself time to gain experience and wisdom while staying focused on what matters Connect With Scott: Search for The Daily Boost on Apple Podcasts and Spotify Email: support@motivationtomove.com Visit: https://www.faceyourpassion.com/ Learn More: https://www.9minuteclaritycode.com/ Visit: https://www.perfectweekplanner.com/ Learn More: https://www.dailyawarenessdiary.com/ Learn more about your ad choices. Scott Smith reveals a game-changing approach to modern communication in this engaging episode. Drawing parallels between dogs' straightforward communication style and humans' complex interactions, Scott introduces his "Rule of Three" for better communication. Through personal anecdotes and coaching experiences, he demonstrates how switching from asynchronous messaging to real-time conversation can transform day-long debates into five-second solutions. Featured Story: During a Face Your Passion coaching session, Scott shares how a member's day-long text message debate highlighted a common communication pitfall. This real-world example showcases why immediate voice communication often proves more effective than extended text exchanges. Key Takeaways: - Text-based communication often leads to prolonged, unresolved conflicts - Face-to-face or voice conversations resolve issues more efficiently - Instant messaging can cause reactions to fester unnecessarily - Simple communication approaches often yield better results - Being present in the moment improves communication quality - Real-time dialogue prevents misunderstandings Memorable Quotes: "Take a 24-hour debate, turn it into a five-second solution just like that." "Stand up, take a step, repeat, keep going until you get what you want." "Nothing will communicate better than just two people in front of each other." Scott's Three-Step Approach: 1. Address issues immediately rather than letting them fester Connect With Scott: Search for The Daily Boost on Apple Podcasts and Spotify Email: support@motivationtomove.com Visit: https://www.faceyourpassion.com/ Learn More: https://www.9minuteclaritycode.com/ Visit: https://www.perfectweekplanner.com/ Learn More: https://www.dailyawarenessdiary.com/ Learn more about your ad choices.
