The Green’s Ladies Club, Inc. was organized May 1, 1954 in Philadelphia, PA by Lorraine Sawyer. Mrs. Sawyer envisioned that Black women could partake of the experiences on the golf links. On May 1, 1954, she convened with seven other women at 160 N. Sandford Street Philadelphia, PA, where they laid the foundation of the Green’s Ladies Golf Club. The first tournament hosted by the Green’s Ladies was held in 1955. Following that successful tournament, GLGC became members of the Eastern Golf Association and the United Golf Association. This is the premier golf organization for women who are seeking to develop their golf game, connect with other women who are interested in the game of golf, and wish to participate competitively in local, state, and national tournaments. *Club donation to junior golfers in Zambia
