There's always a strong hint of excitement when Easter weekend comes around. Whether it's celebrating Jesus, stuffing our faces with chocolate or purely spending a long weekend with our loved ones, it always comes with footballing action to enjoy and plenty of it!
Celtic were in action on Saturday in a particular fixture that we have seen to become a somewhat regular occurrence this season and that was the Glasgow Derby against fiercest rivals, Rangers. Celtic now look destined to retain the Scottish Premiership title after crushing Rangers' hopes with a thrilling 3-2 derby victory, moving 12 points clear of Rangers at the top.
For what was a Good Friday for Cardiff after a crucial 3-1 away victory against Blackpool, the Bluebirds failed to carry over that momentum into their home clash against Sunderland on Monday, falling to a narrow 1-0 defeat and ultimately putting themselves back in amongst the other relegation contenders.
Premier League leaders, Arsenal looked set to pass the toughest assessment of their title credentials with a first Anfield win since 2012 when Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus struck to give the Gunners a 2-0 lead in a pulsating first 30 minutes, but thanks to a Mohamed Salah consolation before half time and a late header from Roberto Firmino saw Liverpool come away with a 2-2 draw, blowing the title race wide open.
Brighton and Tottenham stole the headlines this past weekend in what was teed up to be a fiery encounter before the first whistle. Roberto De Zerbi expressed his dissatisfaction towards Spurs' interim manager, Cristian Stellini by accusing him of showing disrespect towards him in the pre match build up earlier in the week. Both managers clashed again during the second half along with a coming together of both sets of coaching staff. Referee Stuart Atwell resulted in sending off both coaches. Tottenham ran out 2-1 winners against the Seagulls in what was a thrilling and controversial spectacle after VAR ruled out a strong case of a Brighton penalty after Pierre-Emile Hojberg made strong contact on Kaoru Mitoma, which was dismissed.
