Kris Brown grew up in the Seattle area and even from a young age developed a genuine curiosity and love for food. He was also running competitively from the time he was 5 years old, so maybe he was just hungry all the time. He worked in various service industry jobs before moving to Santa Barbara, CA to help open a new restaurant-Barbareno, one of Santa Barbara's finest and most inspired. This last year, he took ownership of a new fast casual restaurant called Cubaneo, a Cuban inspired restaurant (which happens to be me and my girlfriend's favorite-get the yucca fries!)

In this episode we talk about his journey as a new restaurant owner, and the loves and hates of the business. The last half of the podcast we spoke heavily about his journey into ultra running and long distance running. Also in this episode we cover:

-How to successfully drink 3 IPA's over the course of the podcast and keep it together

-The fine art of Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches

-How to think bigger and adjust what is POSSIBLE in your mind.

-How to balance life and training

-How to manage times of chaos and gracefully move through them

-Plus, MUCH MUCH MORE!

This was a very fun episode for me personally to record because we did it live. There's something for everyone in this episode!

Kris is an ultra trail athlete living in Santa Barbara, CA. A lifelong runner with a collegiate track background, he switched to long trail races to fulfill a trajectory he had been planning since childhood. Kris prefers long, difficult climbs to flat courses, but he can be found running anything from a track 5k to an obstacle course race as well. Kris's career highlights include a 10th place finish at Western States in 2018 and a 4th place finish at The North Face 50-Mile Championship in 2017. He owns and operates a Cuban restaurant in Santa Barbara.
