Alex Golden and Facci closeout the MAILBAG podcast answering the following questions: 1). Erik Nikol If you guys are doing the consolidation trade in the offseason, which players are you keeping vs trading? 2). Mann Marsden Real take on the play of Tyrese and is he a superstar or franchise player ? Or jus mid like Evan Turner warned us about 3). Nicholas Thornburg If Myles Turner does not re-sign with the Pacers this offseason, what route do you think the Pacers would go for at the center position? Do you think a priority would need to be to go after a stretch big given the ability of Haliburton to dish well to centers for 3 pointers? 4). Adam aka REDS FAN RIP 19 What do you guys think has been the biggest reason for the turnaround and better play? 5). Sam Tompkins Do you think the starters would have more success with Nesmith in the line up? Would this free Mathurin up for more offensive production with TJ/Obi/etc by coming off the bench? 6). Josh Lovell The Pacers lack shooting, aside from Tyrese. Instead of Alex Len for the 15th spot, would they be better off with a real shooter, like Bojan? 7). Christopher Lloyd AKA The Film Critic With big contracts going to their stars, it's clear the Pacers can't play and pay all of their young talent: Nembhard, Mathurin, Walker, Nesmith, Sheppard, Furphy. How many do you think they keep long-term, and which ones? Thank you all for sending in your questions and for making Setting The Pace a part of your daily listen. Cheers! Alex and Facci are back to discuss the following questions from the mailbag! These questions were answered on a recording we did Monday evening, so we apologize in advance if some questions have already been answered with decisions made by the team. 1). Pat Curse In May the Pacers were 40/1 to win title. In October 60/1. February 1st they were 100/1. Then 120/1 and now 130/1. Why am I the only person on earth that thinks they could beat any team in the league in a 7 game series? Not would or should, but could. 130/1???? 2). DJ Davis — AKA THE LAWYER OF SETTING THE PACE Who should start at SG and SF to give the Pacers the best chance to win more games? 3). Jason I know the Pacers paid Tyrese max money, but aren’t we holding his expectations too high? It seems like he’s dropped off playing with pascal and while he has been indecisive too much I think most fans are judging him based on the IST and that’s not who he truly is. What do you think? 4). Kyle Taylor — aka dude knows ball How concerned are you about the Pacers continued struggles against zone and Ty being face guarded, even though they’ve seen a lot of it all year? Does this long term weakness mean there’s a clear blueprint to beat Indiana in a playoff setting? 5). DonTrell Bullies Do you think De'Aaron Fox is a better fit for what the Pacers want out of their point guard compared to what Haliburton brings? 6). California Bobby Do you think Walker should be getting more minutes? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices…
On today's show, Alex Golden is joined by Mike Facci and special guest...KAMI! The guys discuss the incredible second half from Mathurin, Obi Toppin's brilliant play, the way Thomas Bryant is impacting the game, how the Pacers outlasted the Washington Wizards in a not-so-great game and more! Facci and Kami spend time at the end of the show talking a little WWE and Kami gives us his BEST WWE Promo for WHY Benn Mathurin should be starting...GREAT stuff and a GREAT way to end the first 2/3 of the NBA season. Alex Golden and Mike Facci join to recap the Pacers 128-115 loss to the New York Knicks. Alex and Facci discuss Alex Len not signing with Indiana, and the Pacers bringing in Jahlil Okafor on a 10-day contract. Then, they answer Pt. 1 of the Mailbag Podcast. 1). Northeast Nightmare over on Blue Sky has 3 questions for us! A). First, rank which opponent you’d like to see Indiana face in the first round out of Milwaukee, Detroit, Miami and Orlando. 1st by matchup, 2nd by storyline. B). Do you think Myles Turner will credit the Pacers $10M towards his next contract since Indiana did him a service and paid him nearly $30M a year on the last renegotiation and extension? C). Will the Pacers use Isaiah Jackson’s disabled player exception to sign Alex Len? Is there any benefit towards that? (Mentioned James Johnson needing to be released, but this is why they traded Wiseman). 2). Aaron M — THE GOVERNOR of the Setting The Pace Fan Club Do you think the best chance for the Pacers to win an NBA title is actually continuity, or is that just a word they throw around? This is considering the odds the Pacers win the #1 pick are zero like they appear to be. 3). Chuck and Jamie — THE OG FANS OF THE WEEK! At the halfway point: What has been your biggest surprise this season? Who has made the most improvements? Who/what has been the most disappointing? One thing you hope to see in the second half of the season? 4). Roosters — the President of the Setting The Pace Fan Club In your estimations what are the chances Herb goes into the tax this offseason to sign Myles to a long term deal? Also, what would you be willing to sign him to if it were up to you? Personally I’d try to get him for 5/100 and offer him a NTC. Knowing may have to go higher AAV. Learn more about your ad choices. Woo! What a fun game THAT was! After trailing by 20 points at the end of the first, the Pacers reminded all of Pacer Nation why it is NEVER too late to get back..."INTUIT" (I'm sorry I could resist the pun...if you're not following, this is the name of the Clippers new arena). Alex Golden is joined by Kami to discuss one of the most impressive victories of the season, where the Pacers were able to weather a really bad offensive storm from LA and turn it into an amazing come from behind win. Lots of players stepped up and we talk in depth about each of them. Kami also shares his thoughts on the Royal Rumble as he is the biggest WWE and Pacers fan there is, and we close out the show getting his thoughts on Wiseman being traded.
