Welcome to the Scottish Watches Podcast Episode 604! Today we catch up with the non Geneva Watch Days releases of the past week. These include a major update to Christopher Wards’ C60 Trident range which comes along with the news of 3.9M profit for the business and a new member to the leadership team. TAG Heuer has been focusing on the vintage side of things in its Carrera line, mainly with the Glassbox re-introductions, but we now get new Extreme Sports models. And in breaking news, Ulysse Nardin launch a new Freak to celebrate a quarter century of the Gumball 3000.

UN tease a new Freak—Rikki’s Magma. Dave wears his Chronograph Bulgari Bulgai while Rikki wears the Erebus Asent Orange Fume. TAG Heuer has been focusing on the “Heuer” side of things in its Carrera line, mainly with the Glassbox re-introductions. Today though, we have the “TAG” portion of the brand with a series of new Extreme Sports models. There are four Extreme Sports Chronograph models which come in a combination of titanium cases with black DLC tachymeters, a full black DLC titanium case, or a rose gold case with black DLC tachymeters. All four feature openworked dials with blue accents, or red accents for the first combination, black and silver accents for the second and black and rose gold accents for the third; plus a matching coloured integrated rubber straps. In addition, there are also two new Chronograph Tourbillon models, one of which comes with a titanium case and black DLC tachymeter, the other in full rose gold. Both come on black integrated rubber straps. One really cool feature on all the models is the hollowed case sides with fine grain finishing that adds a much welcome complexity to the watch and pairs beautifully with the openworked dials.

The result is a very futuristic looking watches. All the watches come in chunky 44mm x 15.1mm x 49.7mm cases though the titanium on the majority of them should improve the wearing experience. Would we have preferred a more wearable set of proportions in perhaps 42mm? Possibly, but these are cool watches regardless and will look great on those who can pull off the size. The C60 Lumière builds on the success of the C60 Trident Pro 300. The Lumière is at the apex of the current range. The crown guards and lugs have been changed to keep the design modern and wearable, and the darker tones of Grade 2 titanium make the revised Light-catcher case shine in new and beautiful ways.
