Maybe Burke is a New York based director, choreographer, writer, performer, and transgender advocate interested in telling the stories that haven’t been told. They are excited by new material that can honestly and realistically portray queer people, as well as updating well-known stories with queer voices.

Maybe was a winner of the Fresh Fruit Festival’s 2015 Short Play Contest with their first short play, Do You Want Me To Stop?. The piece went into the festival at The Wild Project in July 2015. They are currently performing with Honest Accomplice Theatre’s The Birds & the Bees: Unabridged, a devised piece Maybe helped to create about female and trans sexuality in which they play a nineteen-year-old who is discovering their gender identity and what that means to them. Maybe was also recently seen in V-Day Taconic’s production of The Vagina Monologues at Cherry Lane Theater.

Maybe recently directed Fuck Over Fuck Under by Jesse Geguzis as a part of F*ckfest at The Brick. This is an episodic look at a bunch of trans and queer relationships that revolve around sex and identity. Maybe also recently directed a staged reading of Presence and Respect by Amy C Morton at WOW Cafe Theater. Set on a college campus with a variety of queer and trans identifying characters, we explored how young people find meaning in themselves and their identities in the world around them.

Maybe was certified in LGBTQ Competency by the Institute of Human Identity and is developing a trans literacy program to offer in schools and/or businesses that want to learn more about how to talk to and about trans people.
