When we entered the new year and Brian Kelly still had not parted ways with then-defensive coordinator Matt House who led one of the worst defenses in college football this year, a lot of LSU fans were losing hope over the future of the defense and had questions about the leadership. Here we are, mere weeks later, with one of the best defensive coaching staffs residing in Baton Rouge. LSU Tigers head football coach Brian Kelly hired Blake Baker from Missouri to be their next defensive coordinator. He helped improve Missouri's defense from the 113th ranked unit in 2021 to the 25th ranked unit this past season. Then, LSU hired former Tiger and Texas Longhorns defensive line coach Bo Davis, who is widely regarded as one of the best in college football. To top it all off, Kelly brought in Missouri defensive line coach Kevin Peoples to assist Davis and the defensive line and bolster up LSU's pass rush. Peoples' defensive front ranked tenth in the country in sacks, averaging just shy of four per game. Brian Kelly is building something special with the coaching staff.
