Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark voiced his discontent with the recent revenue distribution plan negotiated for the College Football Playoff, highlighting his dissatisfaction with the allocated shares. However, despite this concern, Yormark maintains an optimistic outlook regarding the future of the conference, underscoring the imperative for football teams to enhance their performance.

In March, all nine FBS conferences and Notre Dame leadership unanimously endorsed the upcoming CFP contract, scheduled to initiate in 2026. This agreement further underscores the financial gap between the Big Ten and SEC in comparison to other conferences. Notably, Big Ten and SEC institutions are poised to receive over $21 million annually, while ACC schools anticipate more than $13 million annually, and Big 12 schools expect over $12 million annually.

Yormark advocated for a mid-term review in 2028, halfway through the six-year deal, offering an opportunity for FBS commissioners to reassess the economic landscape and contemplate potential adjustments.

"Implementing a mid-term review was logical for various reasons," Yormark expressed during discussions with a select group of reporters at the annual Fiesta Spring Summit. "While the distribution was acceptable to some extent, it didn't meet the level of satisfaction I had hoped for, nor do I believe our athletic directors or coaches are entirely pleased. Nevertheless, we remain committed to strategic investment for the betterment of our programs."
