With consciousness, you have been granted the agency, the response-ability, to regulate how you react to the triggers in your life. Knowing this is what separates us from the animal instinct of our "Croc brain". When you recognize that certain events, people, words, nor any other thing, has the power to "make" you angry you get to choose your response and how you react to it.
