“Anytime the government co-opts business, schools, family or even the church, it is a “power play” for the government.
They are the weaker team - like an NFL team with a losing record seeking a first round draft pick to bring something special to the team.
Secular governments do the same on the “opponent team” (meaning both left and right) when they co-opt the social media influencers, BLM, Antifa, the industrial media complex and music and popular entertainment. Stalin and Marx called them useful idiots - pawns.
In the case of the Church they are looking to acquire supernatural power and heavenly authority. King James co-opted the content and message of the Bible itself in order to subvert and subdue the power of Heaven’s Ekklesia. To bring the people of Christ’s authority under the authority of the Kings appointed Bishops and “episcopal rule”. For the same reason THSC did not UIL access.
