One of Scripture's central teachings is a truth about God that many people seem to appreciate least- He is a God of judgment. To be cynical about God's judgment won't change the fact that judgment belongs to God -Ezek. 21-27-. Instead of despising God's judgments we should ensure that through humble faith we are on the Lord's side. Because although God is long-suffering -the day of the Lord will come- -2 Peter 3-10-. And it will be terrible for God's enemies but -a great comfort to the righteous and elect.--In Ezekiel 25-32 the prophet pronounces judgment against seven nations who played a role in Judah's downfall. God addresses five nations briefly, Ammon, Moab and Seir, Edom, Philistia, and Sidon. He denounces Tyre at greater length. But the seventh, Egypt, receives more attention than the other six combined.-You cannot understand the history of God's people apart from the involvement of Egypt. Egypt had been a thorn in Israel's side since the start. But the God of the little nation of Israel exercises authority over Egypt and all other nations. That's a comforting message for Ezekiel's original audience and for all who look to Christ's appearing.
