The Truth About Critical Race Theory and How It Shows Up In a Classroom
Summary Points of the Podcast:
In podcasts 48, 49, 50 and 51, I give different information about the fight over Critical Race Theory (CRT) and how it has been misused. If you understand CRT and how the republicans are misusing it, you will have a much better chance in any discussion to destroy their stance on CRT.
I have spent over 50 years of my professional career working toward equity for all races. By taking the time to delve into CRT, I have a much greater understanding of what is happening politically in our country. Many republicans have no clue what Trump and others have done to falsify CRT. Sadly, they are so invested in protecting their perceived live style that they do not see the harm they do every day. You will find data that shows how legal institutions, federal and state courts are scrutinizing these “law bans” on history, education, etc. It may take time; however, the truth about how these bans are an effort to push back racial equality and undermine our democracy society will be named.
Stephen Sawchuk’s article entitled “What is Critical Race Theory and Why is it Under attack” has very revealing facts about historical discrimination in the U.S. The decision of Republicans on adding children in schools K-12 was another lie that has created volatility, and hides their purpose of spreading their extreme conservative ideology.
My reasons for creating these podcasts on CRT was a way I could address my concerns of the systematic efforts to reverse the racial collaboration of changes that can help us find ways to address racism and many other issues. Sawchuk provides you an answer to “Does critical race theory say all white people are racist? Isn’t that racists, too?” Republicans use this question to create anger and fear in their supporters.
Sawchuk’s clear statements that “critical race theory is not being taught in K-12, since CRT is written in academic language or published in journals not easily accessible to K-12 teachers.” He says that the laws that ban something are too vague, possibly unconstitutional since they impermissibly restrict free speech. He then provides you the reasons that these laws must be addressed, since they limit instruction in any schools where republican dominated states have bans.
An article published “EXPLAIN: The Truth About Critical Race Theory and How it Shows Up in Your Child’s Classroom is enlightening. There are multiple resources in this article so no one could question the legitimacy of the statements being made. Again, Ed post Staff that wrote this article refutes republican statements: “Critical race theory itself is not being taught in K-12 schools (unless you’re talking about some very advanced students). These advanced students are academically functioning at a college level. He provides you with a disturbing fact: “School funding inequities persist; predominately white district districts receive $23 billion more in funding than districts serving students of color.” You will definitely want to know more facts that are documented and referenced in this article described in my podcast 52.
