Big thought: Many times in early leadership, we want to break the status quo by shaking things up. We feel ambitious and determined as we are set on making a difference. But, it’s easy for that passion to fizzle out once nothing necessarily seems to change and the people around us are more irritated by us than grateful for us.

Today, we are going to talk about the power of consistency and how it should be the foundation to keep you grounded amongst opposition and difficult times. Consistency helps you to endure when it seems like nothing is changing or working.

The reason that this is so important to talk about is because many leaders are doing the right things, or at least trying to, but doubt themselves when they don’t see the results and give up prematurely. I want to help you to see the light at the end of the tunnel by showing you the strength and connection of consistency with faith.

1. Understanding Raw Consistency

Consistency is enduring the course that was set no matter what. That means when facing extreme opposition and it means when it seems unfruitful. It is deciding that this is going to happen even when it seems illogical. It is choosing to rebel against the grain stubbornly.

2. The Ripple Effect of Consistency.

We often don’t anticipate accurately how long something takes to actually work. We expect it to take time, but we don’t expect it to take that much time! It’s in the absence of results and through the moments of waiting in which we begin to doubt if what we thought would work is really going to work.

3. Cultivating Consistency Through Habits.

Establishing good habits is a great way to build your endurance of consistency. Consistency in one area of life bleeds over to the next. When you practice consistency on the small and basic levels, it will help you to sustain consistency in the difficult levels.

4. Sustaining Momentum and Long-term Consistency.

The biggest takeaway from this episode should be that consistency is a mindset and a decision. It’s choosing to be illogical at times because of the fact that you chose a path and are going to stick with it no matter what. Whatever time frame you had in mind, you may need to double or even triple it. This is why you need to really make sure that your beginning motivation is strong and pure before you start.

Take away:

1. Grade your level of consistency on a scale of 1-10 and then ask your team or people close to you to grade you.

2. Examine your personal life and choose one habit to keep so that you can practice the bleed over concept.

3. Reflect on where you’re at in your leadership and honestly and prayerfully ask yourself whether or not you need to quit something or be steadfast in it.
