Dr Denis Mowbray is one of few people in New Zealand with a PhD in Governance. He has sat on and chaired numerous for-profit and not-for-profit boards. He is President and Chair of Governance New Zealand, has taught governance and strategy at Auckland University of Technology, and chaired boards including Gymnastics New Zealand and Yachting New Zealand.
Mark Banicevich asks Denis about professionalism in directors. Many directors claim they are professional because it is their full time vocation. But what is a profession? What does governance need to do to create a profession? Denis also has some excellent advice for new directors.
