The Habs have drafted the game breaking talent that they have needed for a very long time. A player who some have said is the highest skilled player to be drafted by the Canadiens since Guy Lafleur. That player is Ivan Demidov. We are not saying that he is the next Guy Lafleur, but we are incredibly excited and happy to even hear those two names brought up in the same conversation. Time will tell, but some have suggested that his floor is a 70-80 pts player, and his ceiling is 100 points. Again, time will tell.
The Canadiens came out as winners in this this year's draft. In addition to drafting Demidov, they also traded up to 21 (from 26) to eventually draft Michael Hage. A player most thought would be drafted between 17-20. He grew up a Habs fan, his parents were/are Habs fans, and some have compared him to Jordan Kyrou. Again, time will tell.
In the 3rd round, they drafted a name that you will all recognize, Koivu. That's right! The Habs drafted Saku Koivu's son, Aatos Koivu. Such a feel-good story right there.
Who could the Canadiens target in the free agency? Who could be a good fit? Given how the draft went, do they and should they go after some free agents?
