Dr. José G. Montoya completed his medical degree with honors at Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia. He is currently the Co-Director of the National Reference Laboratory for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Toxoplasmosis, the “Dr. Jack S. Remington Laboratory for Specialty Diagnostics (JSRLSD)” where more than 21,000 highly specialized laboratory tests are performed in more than 8,000 patients every year. JSRLSD is the national reference CLIA-certified-laboratory for the FDA, NIH, CDC, USDA, and clinicians throughout North America and the world over. During his 29 year-tenure at Stanford University, he made and published several observations and discoveries, won numerous teaching awards, and founded the Immunocompromised Host Service (Infectious Diseases) (2001) and the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome clinical and research programs (2007). He has published more than 200 articles and book chapters in peer review journals and books. Dr. Montoya has received 14 school-wide teaching awards at Stanford (12) and Tulane (2). He initiated, participated in, executed, and led more 30 clinical trials, Phase I and Phase II. He was elected Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) in recognition of commitment to the internal medicine community and Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America” (FIDSA) for having achieved professional excellence in the field of Infectious Diseases.
In this episode, Dr. Montoya provides his opinion on the COVID-19 vaccines and discusses his involvement in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome research.
