Most of us have gotten at least a little emotional at some point recently. It’s natural. But why do we have emotions and how much should we pay attention to them on any given day? Can we learn to skillfully choose which emotions to listen to and which ones to just let move on by? There are more than 40 types of tangible and intangible losses. Losing body control is a type of grief.
What is Grief?
How do I feel when my body fails to have a baby?
What happens when others say things that hurt?
What do I do when I find out I am 100% one-ear-deaf?
What was my reaction when the infection came back and attacked my face?
Does time alone heal my grief?
Does keeping busy help to be distracted from being sad?
Does it mean I am still stuck in the past and not moved on if I still cry?
How did I feel when I was pregnant again? Was I scared and anxious?
Why is there such a taboo to talk about losses and grief?
How do I hold space for others’ sadness without being emotionally drained?
Vernessa Chuah has always wanted to be a mother. Her journey in losing three angel babies has transformed her grief energy into supporting others whose babies are gone too soon.
Vernessa is the first pregnancy and infant loss coach in Southeast Asia and a certified advanced grief recovery specialist. Featured in Channel News Asia (2021) and Sassy Mama (2021)
Her story was published in the book “Rise-Up” (2020) and others’ encouraging stories to shine light and resilience, interviewed by Mum’s Space (2021) and The Finder (2020, 2021).
A cholesteatoma infection attacked her right ear in 2016; she removed her hearing bones and was permanently 100% right-ear-deaf. She finally had a baby girl in 2018, yet received another shocking news that the same infection was attacking her face in 2019; she almost lost her facial nerves and the possible ability to smile and have clear speech with her child.
Vernessa is no stranger to the different types of grief. Some may find the sadness in grief intense and uneasy. Yet, she finds comfort in supporting others to release and move forward through coaching, support group, mindfulness, art, somatic and journaling practice.
She is also the Founder of Mindful Space, the first physical platform that curates holistic and fun-play-based activities for parents and children.
