In today's episode I talk to Vistage Chair, Laura Gordon. We have a rich discussion all about coaching and how a coach can help their coachee go deeper to really understand what might be happening and to fin the answers that lie within. We also talk about imposter syndrome and how it can show up in different ways and what success can mean for each person. I'd love to hear your thoughts on today's episode.

About Laura:

Laura Gordon’s mission is to help business leaders be the best they can be.

Laura has had a varied and wide-ranging career, from studying psychology as a first degree and running her own small businesses to becoming an award-winning corporate lawyer specialising in IT and media law with a diverse range of clients across all sectors. She also taught Corporate and Commercial Law at the University of Strathclyde and the University of Glasgow’s joint Glasgow Graduate School of Law.

Laura left law to become Director of Glasgow: Edinburgh Collaboration, a Scottish Government backed economic development initiative developing closer ties between Scotland’s two largest cities to enhance their competitive position and that of Scotland’s on the international stage.

In 2010 Laura re-trained as an Executive Coach and formed her own business as a consultant, coach and corporate trainer, joining Vistage in 2014 to continue to work with business leaders, developing them to their full potential whilst enhancing their effectiveness and quality of life. She feels extremely proud and privileged to be have been working with some of the best CEO’s across Central Scotland and London, who all share a strong set of values along with a growth mindset and the desire to develop themselves and their teams, and to have won awards from Vistage each year for high performance as a Chair.

Outwith her executive career, Laura has been a non-executive board member for over 20 years, including 9 years as a Governor on the University Court of Glasgow Caledonian University, which has campuses in London and New York. In addition to being an IoD Chair for four years and a member of the Board of IoD Scotland, Laura has sat on the Council of CBI Scotland as well as the Boards of both Glasgow and Edinburgh Chambers of Commerce. Amongst several charitable board appointments, Laura served as a Trustee for Reform Scotland, the leading independent think tank.

At the end of 2020, Laura moved to Radlett in Hertfordshire, to be closer to family, and launched a new Vistage CE Group in London.

In her spare time, Laura enjoys being with her baby grand daughters as well as travel, walking, yoga, going to the gym, reading, theatre and music, and is enjoying getting back into socialising once again!
