We Uplift: Women..Work.. & Connection ”The Making of Daily Mom Grinds”
Manage episode 306430210 series 3002627
There are times when we realize that as Working Mothers our plates are often dangerously close to overload. Life can seem smooth for a while as we balance our busy days with our swanky planners and color-coded to-do lists. Could the color-coded notes and pretty planners be a facade? The facade of the perfectly planned working mom life can sometimes lead us to feeling disconnected, overwhelmed and almost in need of prescription to balance it all.
After the onset of the Covid -19 pandemic, many of us were advised to deal with our immediate families only and lessen our social circles. Society as a whole walked the lines of keeping safety first, in a dizzying world of 6ft rules and mandates, we were no longer able to connect with those outside of our immediate circles.
In speaking with others, and watching the news I'd often hear stories of families that were suffering under the pressures of lockdowns. Domestic Violence numbers began to increase and mental health was quickly becoming the new normal. Like many working mothers, I too had the pressures working from home with productivity goals while remote schooling. At some point it was almost impossible to do everything I was tasked to do, so I decided to do the best I could.
With all the negative news floating around, I'd find myself thinking of ways I could help those suffering in silence. How many mothers were feeling overwhelmed? How many mothers felt like too much was happening and needed a message of hope? I thought about those mothers who were on the front lines; working from home while remote schooling children and trying hard not to burst under pressure. I had taken a break from speaking, writing and podcasting after the death of my children's father/ex-husband, in November 2019. The grief of his death caught me from behind and I didn't think I could encourage any longer. Looking back, I realized I needed to process my emotions, so I took time away. While I was away, I realized that everything that was happening in our world was much bigger than me. I also realized that I could share my light in hopes of encouraging another mother, not to give up.
After prayers and tears.... I started creating again... and this is a partial story on the beginning of Daily Mom Grinds... (more to come)
