Fights on airplanes, arguments over wearing a mask, white people calling police unnecessarily when a person of color shows up in their neighborhood and road rage incidents that end in gunfire. That is just some of the bad behavior going on these days as the lack of civility in American society seems to be out of control. On this episode of Chino Y Chicano, we talk with Seattle attorney Alma Kimura and hear of her disturbing experience on a flight from California to Seattle. We also talk with University of Washington professor Ralina Joseph who heads up the UW’s Center for Communication, Difference, and Equity and is the creator of the Interrupting Privilege Program, about the breakdown in civility and how to handle it.
