The Kaz II mystery revolves around a 9.8-meter catamaran found drifting off the coast of Queensland, Australia, in April 2007, with its three-man crew—Skipper Des Batten and brothers Peter and John Tunstead—missing. The yacht was discovered in good condition with its engine running, GPS operational, and personal items untouched, but there was no sign of the men. Despite an extensive investigation, the exact circumstances of their disappearance remain unknown.
Theories about what happened include a freak accident where one man fell overboard and the others were lost while trying to save him, but no definitive evidence supports any single explanation. The coroner's report concluded that the men likely died as a result of a tragic accident, but the lack of physical evidence, such as the bodies, leaves the case unresolved. The Kaz II mystery remains one of Australia's most enduring maritime enigmas, capturing the public's imagination and raising more questions than answers.
Story # 2:
The Sarah Joe mystery involves the disappearance of five men from Hana, Maui, who embarked on a fishing trip on February 11, 1979. Shortly after they set out, a sudden and severe storm hit the area, and the men—Scott Moorman, Benjamin Kalama, Peter Hanchett, Patrick Woesner, and Ralph Malaiakini—were never heard from again despite extensive search efforts covering thousands of square miles.
Nearly a decade later, in 1988, the wreckage of the Sarah Joe was discovered on the remote Taongi Atoll in the Marshall Islands, over 2,000 miles from where the boat had vanished. A shallow grave near the wreck contained the remains of Scott Moorman, but no trace of the other men was found. The circumstances surrounding how the boat drifted such a vast distance and who buried Moorman remain unexplained, leaving this case an enduring and poignant maritime mystery that continues to haunt and intrigue.
