"My colleague slowly approached the woman, signing a few words with her hands until the woman calmed down and responded back. She was deaf! The woman – we soon learned – had misplaced her child. That’s why she was panicking. That’s why she was shouting. Thankfully, the story had a happy ending – her child was in another part of the room, just out of her eyesight. They soon reunited. And the rest of us learned a valuable lesson about rushing to judgment.
That day was a turning point in my life. I embarked on a journey to learn sign language. I grew to understand empathy in a new light. I also founded Sales2Bloom, a company that helps technology organizations and salespersons grow their businesses with consistency and productivity through enterprise sales coaching and business consulting.
