Got so many letters after your name that it doesn't fit in your LinkedIn Profile? *whomp whomp* Credentials don't equal career momentum . Listen in to learn how to be strategic in claiming professional standing and subject matter expertise.
- Credentials are not a measure of your worth. Never pursue one to get a competitive edge or prove you can do something.
- As you follow your north star in your career, look for gateway credentials that are necessary like licensure or a specialty credential that establishes your subject matter expertise in an area you want to be the go to guru.
- Consider the ROI of any credential. If it's not building the opportunity pipeline you want, don;t bother.
- Credentials that aren't put to use are useless. Think about what new doors you want to open. How will this certification, degree, license or membership build your network and add rocket fuel to your passion projects?
