Language is an essential part of human communication, and it plays a crucial role in our daily lives. The prevalence of foreign languages in the United States has significant implications for health literacy levels among non-native English speakers. In bilingual individuals, regression to a primary language may be associated with development of cognitive impairment and increased risk for development of dementia.
