🎙️ Hey everyone! Welcome back to Youth M.O.V.E. Colorado! We’re excited to bring you a preview of Youth Empowerment Radio, Season 2—formerly Next Gen Combos! This season, we’re spotlighting incredible stories of resilience and community support.
👋 Introducing Cassidy Meehan! Cassidy works with the Boys and Girls Clubs of the San Luis Valley. They’re the only Boys and Girls Club in Colorado partnering with the Rural Collaborative Runaway and Homeless Youth Program. Why? Because they're a natural fit—they work with youth every day across six counties, including four of the poorest in Colorado.
🚪 Unhoused Youth in Rural Areas: Finding unhoused youth looks different here than in urban areas. Instead of shelters or the streets, many are couch surfing, living in garages, or fleeing unsafe home situations. Cassidy’s team serves about ten youth a year, wherever they are in the valley, with most services centered in Alamosa but outreach reaching all corners of the region.
💙 Pouring Into Our Youth: Cassidy’s message is clear: unhoused youth are capable of being productive and valued members of society if we invest in them. They don’t need to “pull themselves up by their bootstraps.” They deserve love, guidance, and support to reach their full potential.
🔥 Stay tuned for more inspiring stories! Season 2 of Youth Empowerment Radio will highlight voices like Cassidy’s, sharing stories of dedication and youth resilience. Catch it soon!
