Host Christina Nowak explores this brilliant kids immersive production case study of the Gamechangers series, winner of the Virtual Production category in the Broadcast Tech Innovation Awards 2023 (beating The Chemical Brothers, no less). Talking through the project from concept to awards-winning completion with visionary Writer Emma Nuttall and Producer Toki Allison.
"Game Changers," set in the fictional Northern town of GreenView, invites audiences into an innovative, interactive narrative game where their decisions shape the unfolding story in a vital battle against climate change. Developed by Megaverse (https://www.megaverse.co/) and financially backed by UK Research & Innovation, the project aims to move audiences from apathy to collective action against climate issues. With narratives and dialogue penned by Emma Nuttall and research from academics Dr. Lynda Dunlop and Zoyander Street, "Game Changers" not only stands as a pioneering digital storytelling initiative but also a compelling tool aimed at uniting diverse audiences in a story of climate change activism.

Emma Nuttall (she/her) Writer/ Creator
Emma hails from the North and writes stories for games, XR, stage and screen including Emmerdale and His Dark Materials She’s worked alongside the BBC, CharismaAI, The National Youth Theatre, and was selected for Screen Yorkshire’s 'FLEX' orogramme,, BAFTA Connect, and the Future of Film cohort. She also teaches on the Games and XR Masters Degree at the University of Salford.

Toki Allison (she/her) Producer
Toki is a live and screen events producer, access and inclusion consultant, and senior producer with Megaverse, an interactive studio specialising in realtime immersive experiences. She is largely preoccupied with audience development, focusing on how marginalised communities can be better served, and has a passion for multi-disciplinary approaches to engagement, working across cinema, music, theatre and immersive tech. She has worked with Film Hub Wales, Heart of Glass, Liverpool Biennale, Chapter Arts, Nozstock The Hidden Valley, National Theatre Wales, Birds Eye View, The New Black Film Collective, Sundance Film Festival London, is a trustee of Wyldwood Arts, and led the the BFI Film Audience Network initiative, Inclusive Cinema, for five years.
