Friendship is a close bond with another person that is less than a romance and more than an acquaintance. However deep a friendship goes, there remains the unspoken understanding that the other person adds value to the other’s life, that the person is a blessing not to be taken for granted. Though many friendships fade away, there are those that stand the test of time. Such was the case with the friendship between Sir Frederick Treves and Joseph Merrick.
