In part one in my interview with Katie, we talk about what she had gone through highschool and college to that led to her writing her first freelance piece. She was student council president at her all girls high school, spoke at her high school graduation, was an RA in college, and was that chick that always made people laugh. Somehow all of this lead to her first piece called “A Million Different Pieces: How I Hid The Fact That I Was Cutting Myself” with Refinary 29. As she shared with me her very personal journey, I learned about how writing became her comfort and allowed her to overcome such a difficult time in her life.
