Dr. Crystal Heath, DVM is a renowned shelter veterinarian in the Bay Area, California, and an outspoken animal rights activist. She has been instrumental in drafting animal rights-centered policies in California- like the CA Fur Ban (AB-44), and Berkeley's recent resolution to divest from the city's purchase of animal products by 50%, to name a few.
In this episode, Dr. Heath and AAM Mentor Shriya, chat about the much-needed change in the current veterinary education system, the powerful influence that animal exploitative industries have on vet schools and the profession as a whole, the need for compassionate veterinary students, and how animal rights activists and veterinarians can work together to create a system of education that truly centers the well-being of ALL animals.
