St. Denis Medical shares some of its DNA with shows like The Office and Abbott Elementary, mockumentary-style single-camera shows portraying the goings-on at somewhat skewed workplaces. With his background in sketch comedy, David Alan Grier was certainly an inspired choice to star as one of the fictional hospital’s emergency room physicians.
