When a young Eva Kollisch arrives as a refugee in New York in 1940, she finds a community among socialists who share her values and idealism. She soon discovers ‘the cause’ isn’t as idyllic as it seems. Little does she know this is the beginning of a lifelong commitment to activism and her determination to create radical change in ways that include belonging, love and one's full self. In addition to Eva Kollisch’s memoirs Girl in Movement (2000) and The Ground Under My Feet (2014), LBI’s collections include an oral history interview with Eva conducted in 2014 and the papers of Eva’s mother, poet Margarete Kolllisch, which document Eva’s childhood experience on the Kindertransport. Learn more at www.lbi.org/kollisch . Exile is a production of the Leo Baeck Institute , New York | Berlin and Antica Productions . It’s narrated by Mandy Patinkin. Executive Producers include Katrina Onstad, Stuart Coxe, and Bernie Blum. Senior Producer is Debbie Pacheco. Associate Producers are Hailey Choi and Emily Morantz. Research and translation by Isabella Kempf. Sound design and audio mix by Philip Wilson, with help from Cameron McIver. Theme music by Oliver Wickham. Voice acting by Natalia Bushnik. Special thanks to the Kollisch family for the use of Eva’s two memoirs, “Girl in Movement” and “The Ground Under My Feet”, the Sophia Smith Collection at Smith College and their “Voices of Feminism Oral History Project”, and Soundtrack New York.…

Jon is delightfully transparent in talking about how he runs and books a top club in NYC. Great insights about the expendability of comedians, building work/social boundaries, and how he stumbled into comedy after working in oil and gas events and for (gasp) the RNC. He even shares some personal struggles about the party life catching up to him and coming out to the comedy community.…
Isabel Hagen's was an accomplished artist before she picked up a microphone. A professional violist for twenty years, performing on Broadway and Bjork, she got the itch for stand up. She tells us how she barked on street corners with her viola on her back, the jump from one dream to another, and how to make performance anxiety a comedy weapon.…

I think the title says it all.
The hilarious Emma Willman (Netflix, Colbert, Crazy Ex Girlfriend) talks comedy classes in Boston, Swastika bumper stickers in Rhode Island, and bombing in front of her mom so hard that she had to go to grad school.
Our funniest episode yet with the HILARIOUS Nathan “Rooster” Macintosh. After graduating from Canada, he came to bomb at open mics in New York City before performing on Colbert, Conan, and Fallon. He screams at us about his dream of getting blown in New Zealand, why you should film and post every single set, and how Wall E is a prescient apocalyptic masterpiece.…
Laura auditions for a New York Comedy Club. Which one? Listen to find out. Matthew talks "killing your babies" and Laura talks abortion jokes. Which, oddly, not related.
JP Buck, who booked stand up for CONAN, talks about what makes comics and their late night sets great, the future of stand up, and why he hates the word "gatekeeper."
