Once again the Merely Players Theatre Group is presenting another great theatre performance. You never know what they are up to but it’s always something unique and exciting. Zachary Chiero is directing the show called “Small Mouth Sounds” and Tara Demmy is one of the actors in the play joining us from Washington, DC. There is almost no dialogue in this show written by Bess Wohl which is based on the experiences of six participants on a five day silent retreat. Even without words there is great character development through this physical theatre piece. Each participant in the retreat carries their own type of burdens and agony as well as hopes and desires. This play has been called “an intimate and profound experience”. Tara Demmy is a theatre artist, teacher, historian and clown and Zachary Chiero is also the Associate Director of the Merely Players in addition to being an actor, choreographer and singer. The Merely Players was formed by Mona Wood-Patterson and Charles Ford in 1994 bringing professional theatre to our community. All performance takes place at the Merely Underground at 789 Tech Center Drive in Durango, Colorado.
The show opens Friday February 9th and runs through Sunday February 18th with 6 evening shows at 7pm and 2 matinees at 2pm. For tickets and more information visit their website at www.merelyplayers.org
