Join me for a conversation with local Chef Arnold Safari to learn more about the journey that has brought him from his home village in Kenya, to Europe and then Durango. He began his culinary training at the age of 9 in the kitchen with his father who was a chef at one of Kenya’s most prestigious resorts. From there he entered the Kenya Utalii College’s culinary program after high school and later continued his international training at the Sweden Culinary School. Along the way he has participated in Chef’s without Borders in different regions of Africa as well as starting his own program called Door to Door Better Cooking, teaching local villagers how to cook great food on a low budget. Safari is always introducing new and innovative tastes to traditional recipes. Learn about the importance of fresh spices, his passion and drive to share his culinary traditions and the way he got the name “Safari”!
