Welcome Diamond Mangrum to The IT Factor Podcast. She spoke on her experience at NCA&T vs now at USC. She is a Ph.D. candidate in biomedical engineering. Diamond was inspired to study biomedical engineering to cure cancer due to both of her grandmothers having cancer.
Diamond’s IT Factor is to create opportunities to help people achieve their dreams. One way she does this is through her platform on Instagram (@melanated.phd), dispelling the myths about higher education.
She spoke highly of why she wanted to be an astronaut and how growing up people would say don’t you stop saying you want to be an astronaut in grade school. She was able to take one step closer to that goal by working at NASA.
One of Diamonds life long goals she would like to see come to life is ending world hunger, and how easily it can be fixed.
I look forward to seeing her get her Ph.D. and I can not wait to see her continue to change the narrative.
