Orient had made history. 86 points was their highest tally in a single season and after a flourish in the last two games, they secured a 3rd place finish. And whilst missing out on automatic promotion was disappointing, they still had a chance to do it – in the best way possible, the playoffs and a trip to Wembley. But to get there they had to beat a strong Peterborough team over two legs, who had finished in 7th place. Those two games would prove to live long in the memory for Orient fans, for so many reasons.
