In episode 49 of the Harbir Singh Podcast, we have the edifying Tripat Singh Ji from Mohali Chandigarh (Punjab, India). NB: This is the first of many podcast episodes in Punjabi, with the aim of accessing more Sikh personalities from India and around the world who may not be fluent in Punjabi. Tripat Singh is a truly inspirational individual, as you will hear, he started off as a high level wrestler in his youth but did not train in adult life. He was very close to his wife and after her death, turned to exercise as an outlet for his grief. His family were initially concerned for him considering his adult and his high ambitions (started off running 5k's with no training and then went on to run several full marathons). He turned towards gym exercises (calisthenics's and weights) when despite his high cardio volume he was not losing belly fat. His Instagram page is a eclectic mix of gym based exercises which inspire awe, as most people half his age cannot do the types of exercises he is doing.
As well as helping himself he is helping many others and runs free exercises classes for 2 hours every morning (6 days a week) for his local community. Recently babaji helped an elderly woman rehab from a slipped disc in her neck through exercise and is an exercise zealot believing that we should start with whatever we can do and slowly build up. Babaji also has a passion for life long learning; completing a UK based personal training course, dietetics course, Ayurveda course and acupressure course whilst running a successful textiles business.
